Mangal Dosha & Compatibility

Please get an honest second opinion before worrying — or spending on remedies. In my 30 years of practice, the single most overused and misrepresented concept in Indian astrology is Mangal Dosha. Classical Vedic texts describe numerous conditions under which Mangal Dosha is cancelled. An experienced astrologer applies all these cancellations rigorously. In the majority of 'severe Mangal Dosha' cases I have reviewed, the dosha was either entirely cancelled, significantly mitigated, or far less severe than the initial assessment suggested.

Classically, 18 out of 36 Gunas is the minimum considered acceptable for marriage. 24-32 is good, and 32+ is excellent. However, Pandit Ji emphasises that the Guna score is only one component of a complete compatibility assessment. The 7th house, Venus, Navamsa compatibility, and Dasha timing matching are equally — sometimes more — important.
