Mangal Dosha is one of the most misunderstood and exploited concepts in Indian astrology. Pandit Ji has spent 30 years giving families the truth — not the fear.
I want to share something I have observed consistently across 30 years of practice: the single most exploited concept in Indian astrology — used to create unnecessary fear and justify unnecessary expense — is Mangal Dosha. Family after family walks through my door at this Jyothishyalayam having been told by another astrologer that their daughter or son has "severe Mangal Dosha" that requires an expensive ritual to remove. In the majority of these cases, a careful classical analysis reveals that the dosha is either cancelled, mild, or significantly less serious than claimed.
Mangal Dosha occurs when Mars is placed in the 1st, 2nd, 4th, 7th, 8th, or 12th house from the Lagna, Moon, or Venus in the birth chart. By this definition, a significant portion of the population has some form of Mangal Dosha. But the classical texts — the Parashara Hora Shastra and others — also describe numerous conditions under which this dosha is cancelled: when Mars is in its own sign, when it is exalted, when certain other planetary configurations are present. These cancellations are not obscure or debatable — they are clearly stated in the classical literature. An honest astrologer applies them.
I have given many families the relief of hearing, after years of worry, that the dosha their child was supposed to have is actually cancelled — or mild — or matched in the proposed partner's chart. I have also given families honest guidance when a genuine Mangal Dosha does exist and proportionate remedies are genuinely helpful. Both conversations are delivered with the same honesty, the same care, and the same commitment to giving you the truth that this most important decision deserves.

Three different astrologers had told my daughter she had severe Mangal Dosha and quoted significant sums for removal rituals. A family friend suggested we consult Pandit Ji before spending. He analysed the chart carefully, applied every classical cancellation rule, and told us — quietly, directly, in Telugu — that the dosha was cancelled by two clear planetary factors and that the marriage could proceed without any special ritual. He charged a fair consultation fee and sent us home with the relief I cannot fully describe. His honesty, when honesty was what we most needed, was the most valuable thing he could have given us.
